Pilipili expands its management and services

Mathias Deswarte and Lukas Costeur have joined Pilipili. With this move, the product design agency expands its expertise. The plan: to be a strategic partner for design and innovation. In other words, not only can you call on Pilipili for product design, but for everything from engineering to marketing, including the unboxing experience.

Pilipili is a full-service product design agency based in Kortrijk. They conceive, design, and develop products that truly improve lives. Think weaving machines for Picanol and printers for Labelmate. With the arrival of Mathias Deswarte and Lukas Costeur, not only does the management team grow, but so do the services offered: strategy, branding, and brand experience are now part of the mix.

“A good product alone often isn’t enough. You also need to think about the marketing strategy: how to sell it, and what the story is,” says Mathias Deswarte, the new brand expert and partner at Pilipili.

Expertise in strategy and brand experience

Mathias Deswarte (35) began his career as a consultant and project manager for various e-commerce companies. Later, he worked for several years as a digital lead and strategic director at a full-service communications agency. That experience laid the foundation for Pacemakers, a consultancy firm that helps brands fine-tune their branding and marketing. Deswarte founded it together with Lukas Costeur.

And now that same Lukas Costeur (38) is also joining Pilipili as a partner and creative director. Lukas is no stranger to Pilipili. After his studies, he interned at the company, which kicked off fourteen years as a product designer there. After a detour through Pacemakers, Lukas is now returning home.

Costeur: “The next logical step for Mathias and me was to build our own team. When we had the opportunity to revamp Pilipili’s branding, we immediately felt that the collaboration was right. That’s when the gears started turning.”

The two newcomers join Steven Dehollander (57), design thinker and founder of Pilipili. He started the company in 1996 and has since built it into a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers, and project managers.

Bringing in fresh energy to grow

Dehollander: “The world of technology evolves rapidly, and as a design agency, it’s essential to stay ahead, to ride the latest waves. That’s why I’m so excited about the arrival of Mathias and Lukas. They bring fresh energy to the team and inject new insights into the company.”

Pilipili continues to chart its course, bringing new ideas to market for its clients by driving fundamental innovation. Dehollander: “What I want is to improve people’s lives. That of our client, their customers, the transporter who has to ship the product, and even the person at the recycling center who has to dismantle it. If we succeed in that, I’m satisfied.”
